The Philadelphia SUNS background
Since the early 1970's, the Philadelphia Suns Asian Club has played an instrumental part in the lives of Asians in the Philadelphia area, particularly with the youth. In our fifth generation of reaching out to the community, many of these participants are under the age of twenty. Through recreational, cultural, academic and social avenues, we have strived to help youths and young adults. Our involvement's have opened doors of opportunity during their formative years, encouraging them to develop respect, responsibility, discipline, and purpose. In November 1995 The Suns were incorporated as a 501 (C3) non-profit charitable organization.

Coordinated by a group of dedicated volunteers, the organization offers opportunities for all who are willing to be involved. Networking with similarly established youth groups in various cities in the U.S. and Canada have provided many opportunities with people of similar ancestral backgrounds to gather for various events.

Support for the group comes through fundraising and some private individuals' donations.

Our Mission
The Philadelphia Suns Inc., exists to promote, organize, and support athletic, cultural, recreational, and educational opportunities for Asian American youth. The Suns have played an active part in enriching the Asian communities and supporting local community organizations.
